Cubejay privacy policy
Last updated October 27, 2026. This policy covers the Android app Cubejay: Cube Timer & Solver (com.tinyfair.cubejay) published by Tinyfair on Google Play.
The short version
The app works on your phone. We do not have accounts or servers, camera images never leave your phone, the app has no microphone, location, contacts or storage permission, and we never receive your times, sessions or personal details. Data leaves your phone only for ads, purchases and crash reports (Google), and for a small settings file the app downloads from our website, as described below.
Data that stays on your phone
- Camera
- Used only while you scan a cube, after you allow it. The app reads the average color of nine small areas of each camera frame in your phone's memory to find the sticker colors. No photo or video is saved, uploaded, sent to us or passed to the ad SDK. The flashlight button uses the camera light. If you do not allow the camera, you can enter the colors by hand.
- Times, sessions and stats
- Your solve times, scrambles, penalties, sessions, how many cubes you solved and your settings are saved only in the app's private storage on your phone. They are never uploaded, never sent to us and never passed to the ad SDK. If you use Android device backup, they may be included in that backup, which Google encrypts for your account.
- CSV export and import
- Created only when you ask. An exported CSV file is shared only where you choose with the Android share sheet. A file to import is opened with the Android document picker, so the app has no access to your storage.
- Trial reminder
- If you start a free trial, one reminder 2 days before it ends is scheduled on your phone by Android. Nothing about it leaves your phone.
- Purchases
- Handled by Google Play; we never see your payment details.
Settings file from tinyfair.my.id
When it starts, the app downloads a small settings file from https://tinyfair.my.id/config/cubejay.json (the minimum app version and how often ads may appear). The request sends no personal data, no solve data and no identifier. Like any web request, our web host sees your IP address in its standard server logs; we do not use it to identify you or link it to anything else.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The free version shows a small banner at the end of the Stats screen and the Learn lists only. There are no ads on the timer, during inspection or a solve, on the camera scan, while the solution loads or while you follow the moves, on the Pro screen, and no ad when you open the app. A full-screen ad may appear now and then when a solved cube moves to its summary, or when you switch sessions after at least 5 solves. It never appears in your first session in the app or after your first solved cube, at most once every 2 minutes and at most 8 times a day. You can also choose to watch 2 short videos for 24 hours of Pro, or one video for one more shortest solution today. Ad content is limited to no higher than the T (Teen) rating, and dating and social casino ads are blocked. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, an approximate location from your IP address, information about ad interactions, and diagnostics. Camera images and your times are never passed to the ad SDK. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the app asks for your consent first, and you can change it later under Settings, Privacy choices. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Pro removes all ads.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics)
If the app crashes or hits a serious error, it sends a crash report to Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service that helps us find and fix the bug. A report contains the error and where it happened in the code, the app version, the device model, the Android version, and a random installation ID that is not linked to you, your Google account or your advertising ID. It never contains camera images, your times, your cube or anything that identifies you. Reports are kept for 90 days. See Firebase privacy and security.
Purchases (Google Play)
Pro is sold through Google Play Billing as a yearly subscription (with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers), a monthly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in Google Play. We do not see your payment details; Google Play tells the app only whether Pro is active.
Permissions
Camera, asked the first time you scan a cube, to read sticker colors on your phone. Notifications, asked only when you start a free trial, for one reminder 2 days before it ends. Start at boot, so that reminder is set again after a restart. No microphone, location, contacts, photos and media, storage, exact alarm or foreground service permission; CSV files are opened with the Android document picker. Google's ad and purchase libraries add the advertising ID, network state and billing permissions. Internet is used for ads, purchases, crash reports and the settings file described above.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and deleting data
